Recently, we had the opportunity to rework, rebuild, and refurbish approximately eight detached wooden walkways that serve as the primary entrances to individual homes within a vibrant neighborhood development. Each walkway presented its own unique challenges—some had deteriorated significantly over time, while others required only minor updates, such as new decking. This project allowed us to engage with homeowners, contribute to the neighborhood’s upkeep, and ensure safe and aesthetically pleasing entryways for residents.
Adapting to On-Site Conditions
One of the key aspects of this project was adapting to site conditions. When working with structures this close to the ground, it can be difficult to assess their condition until the rebuilding process is underway. However, through careful planning, expertise, and attention to detail, we were able to deliver high-quality results that will stand the test of time.

Best Practices for Long-Lasting Decking
To ensure durability and longevity, we implemented best practices in our decking builds. One of our preferred materials is joist tape, such as G-Tape, which helps protect the tops of joists from moisture damage. This self-sealing tape prevents water infiltration around fasteners, reducing the risk of decay. Additionally, we used pressure-treated materials and took extra steps to seal the cut ends of lumber as we worked. These measures significantly enhance the lifespan of the structures, providing homeowners with a long-term, reliable solution.

By combining high-quality materials with meticulous craftsmanship, we are proud to contribute to the preservation and improvement of this beautiful neighborhood. Properly maintaining wooden walkways not only enhances curb appeal but also ensures safety and functionality for years to come.
